Setting up CASA training programs
Ten CASA training programs are created with every account: RPL, PPL, and CPL, plus night VFR, instrument rating, and multi-engine aeroplane class rating, the MPPC, formation, and tailwheel endorsements, and a UPRT operator course. Each one arrives with stages, lessons, units of competency, and milestones already built.
Review a program
Go to Progress and open a training program. You will see its milestones, then each stage with its lessons and units of competency. Lessons carry a code, a duration, and a required flag. Units of competency carry the CASA Manual of Standards reference and a target score.
Adjust it to your school
Rename stages, add or remove lessons, change durations, and adjust target scores to match how you teach. If you make a mess of it, Restore Defaults puts the shipped programs back.
Set your rubric
The default scale is Not Attempted, Introduced / Needs Help, Maneuvered / Inconsistent, and Proficient / Consistent. The scale, its labels, and its colours are configurable in settings if your school words things differently.
Register a student
Open the student, go to the Training programs tab, and choose Register on training programs. A student can sit on more than one program at a time - a PPL candidate can also be working through a tailwheel endorsement.
Grade as you fly
When you check out a booking, add the syllabus lessons that were flown and score each unit of competency, with notes against the individual skill. The student's record updates immediately, and the programs dashboard shows who is ready to progress. Missed a flight? Open Bookings → Needs grading (or More → Needs grading on mobile) to finish scores after checkout.
